Tour of Wayzata, Minnesota

Updated: Apr 12, 2021

Today my team mate from To The Twin Cities, Alex, is joining me to give you guys a tour of the suburb he grew up in, Wayzata. If you're looking for a tight knit community, a place where everything is in walking distance, and great schools for kids, check this video out.

Wayzata public schools are among the best school districts in the state, and Wayzata west middle school is within a mile away from the downtown area.

Wayzata is a small area and everything is within walking distance, so it’s a very tight knit community at its core.

There are lots of walking and biking trails in the area, the dakota trail goes around the western side of the lake. there’s also the luce line trail that goes through the northern part of of the city.

Given that it’s an older town there are still some historical buildings like the train depot, but there is also a lot of new development that is taking place with condos and senior living going in.

James J. Hill officially brought the Greater Morthen Railroad through Wayzata in 1867 which was a boon to the city of Wayzata, and the city of Wayzata has a rich history and fondness for the railroad. A bit of a bane though is the noise that the train makes when crossing through the area.
