Today we're visiting Savage, a Minnesota suburb with lots of outdoor spaces and a natural park reserve nearby. They have solid schools as rated on Niche.com, and beautiful large lots with new and established neighborhoods. Overall an awesome place and a great option for when you're moving to the twin cities!
Savage was the landing point for Irish and Scottish immigrants in 1800, and was onnce a shipbuilding port for the U.S. Navy, nowadays it is an industrial manufacturing job center in the southern metro. The city is still relatively undeveloped, with sections of the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge and Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve within its borders. This coincidentally makes Savage a great place if you love the outdoors.
Savage scores an A overall on Niche.com for schools, and A- on housing, and A on rating for being good for families. The average single family home price is around $365k vs $335k average for the twin cities.
Range of home prices currently on market are from $220k to $1.5m for single family homes, and $219k to $844k for condos and townhomes.
