Tour of Chaska, Minnesota

Updated: Apr 29, 2021

It's time for another tour and today Nick and I headed to Chaska, Minnesota. The community started as a brick manufacturing center in the 1880's, and has since become listed as one of the best cities to live in, on the national poll in 2007. If you're moving to a place with plenty of conveniences, solid schools, and a variety of home styles and prices, check out the tour below.

Chaska has a population of 26,000 and rates an A as a whole on Niche.com. The city rates A for schools on Niche.com as well, and get 6 & 7 on Greatschools.org.

The name "Chaska" is derived from a Dakota word often given as a name to the first born male child. Chaska was incorporated as a village in 1871 and as a city in 1891. An abundance of clay led to the start of brick making businesses in 1857. By the 1880s, as a result of the clay resources, Chaska was a thriving brick manufacturing center. With the advent of the 20th century came other industries, mostly involved in the agricultural field and the processing of produce such as flour, beet, corn, peas and tomatoes.

The National polls has named Chaska the eighth-best city in the United States in 2007 and 20th best in 2009.

In September 2016, Chaska hosted the Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National Golf Course.

  • Solid schools

Cons

  • Far from cities

  • Lack of culture and trendy restaurants

  • On average it’s expensive, but that is largely a result of recent expensive new builds
